Play Insight: In order to tell if your opponent is in man or zone, you must pay attention immediately after the defenders break the huddle. If the defensive backs start at the sidelines and then shift in to line up in front of your tightly aligned wide receivers, they are in zone. If the defenders line up in front of your wide receivers immediately, then they are in man coverage.
From that point, you can simply pick whatever play you have designed to beat the specific coverage. For example, if they are in man coverage, audible to a play with crossing routes and a corner route. If they are in zone, audible to a play with flat routes and hot route a streak up the middle of the field. It is best to have a big wide receiver like Marques Colston to manually click on and user catch in front of the zone.
Steps:
1. Determine if the defensive backs line up in front of the wide receivers from the get go or they start at the sidelines and run in.
2. If they line up in front, select your best man beater.
3. If they start at the sidelines, select your best zone beater.
