Compressed Sets Vs. Zone

Compressed Sets Vs. Zone

This play is effective versus zone for a couple reasons.  Any formation that has the WR’s in close causes fits for zone coverage, since the CB’s want to float to the outside, leaving the seams wide open for streaks.  Also this play has a blue route to the TE going to the flats, which acts as a safety valve as well as a nice read versus purple and deep blue zones.

Rocketing catching an outside slant doesn’t work from anywhere on the field, but the position that the middle WR is at in shotgun bunch is perfect for that.  This is a nice play to mix in versus zone coverage that could be used for long yard conversions.

Play: Tight X-Cross
Formation: Shotgun Bunch
Playbook: KC

Setup:
1. Streak both outside WR’s.
2. Fade route the RB
3. Outside slant the middle WR in the bunch.
