Each year we all search for that one route that you can abuse versus specific coverages. This year has proven that there isn’t any guaranteed routes that you can throw every down. The ten yard in-route is the closest thing I have seen to a gimmick versus man coverage that I have seen this year.
You must hot route your WR on an in-route and then smart route that WR. There are situations where you will have less than 10 yards to go, so when you smart route a WR (which sends the WR to the first down line) the route won’t be effective for this situation. With that being said, you can find a play that already has a default 10 yard in-route that you don’t have to hot route.
